GOODBYE PHOTO FLASHBACK: Tested Under several light conditions and with top smartphone models.

  • Clear Blue Sunlit Sky
  • Outdoors PM
  • Indoors PM
  • Electronic Flash
  • Fluorescent Light
  • Bathroom Light
  • Nightclub Light

A panel of women were tested in a controlled environment simulating seven different lighting scenarios, with professionally-applied concealer, foundation and/or powder, and took their own selfies with top smartphones. The majority of study participants said that the resulting picture was ‘no flashback’ or ‘flawless’ or ‘perfect’.

‘Flashback’ occurs when white particles in face makeup reflect light released by flash photography, creating a white cast in photos; eliminating these particles combats that flashback. ‘Flawless’ or ‘perfect’ represents one’s self-assessment of the picture having all the desired qualities.

Pictured model is not one of the selfies taken as part of the study, and not an exact representation of actual product application. Any image shown on the merchandising or websites is for illustration purposes only. Results may vary depending on individual user’s selfie skills, phone model, or lighting condition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At first I was kinda put off by the smell but tbh for the price and quality I adjusted to it and it fades quickly. The blenfability and build on this is great and I dont use a primer or anything like that. I'm always sure to moisturize my face properly before use because it does dry out a bit if not but like I said great quality when it does work well. I do have to wash my beauty blender before each use with it because it does soak in and make it harder to spread evenly with each use but if you can manage to put in this little effort for the great outcome it's great because your only paying 5.99 and getting the quality of a 25.00 foundation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Granted this foundation is $5 but I just can’t stand the smell of it. Other then that I would probably give it a higher star rating. The smell is that of inexpensive foundation. If they only scented this and made it $8 I would be happier with it. I feel like I am applying liquid latex on my skin because of the cheap scent and although the coverage seems ok on your hand or beautify blender it quickly dissolves when applied on the skin. I got this because Tati said she thought it was a decent product for the price but I wasnt’ impressed. I am dying to try the L’Oréal foundation that everyone says is so great for being a drug store product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have to say, this foundation definitely met my high expectations. The colour payoff is fabulous as you need so little to get good coverage! I used almost a whole bottle and loved it, but my one qualm with it is that it doesn’t seem to agree with setting powders easily. I have oily skin and I have to set at least my forehead and around my nose and I found it REALLY made this foundation collect and slip around. If I didn’t set it, it would be super greasy but would stick well! I tried three different setting powders with no success. If you have combo/oily skin, definitely consider how much you need to powder before trying this foundation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Because I know it's hard to find good foundations, especially those with drug stores. This foundation was really easy to mix, leaving a light cover I liked. Throughout the day, I did not notice the foundation faded. I went to the gym and I did a little exercise, and the foundation was still able to stay on my face. Toward my end in the tenth period, I noticed that the foundation was not as good as it had been earlier, but it was not very bad as it made me give the institution a one star review. The Foundation reminded me of the "Fenty" foundation of Rihanna because it gave me a light cover look, so I think Wet and Wild Foundation is a Fent

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I really wanted to love this foundation. I heard amazing things on it. People raving about it plus it being so inexpensive I had to try it.. Maybe its Just my skin but it didnt work for me. I tried it with different primers, different powders. No. It made my pores look like craters on my face. It emphasized every fine line and bump and pore. It had a beautiful finish. It felt so light. Definitely medium coverage. I have combo/oily skin and it worked well for that aspect. It didn't cling or move. It just emphasized things for me I wanted to hide. It also smells like paint. Which I could get over if it looked nice. But for me, it just did not work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my everyday foundation, I love it. It gives my skin a really nice finish. My biggest problem with foundation is that it always gets splotchy on my nose and completely wears off after about 4 or 5 hours of wear. This one is the first I've found that doesn't do this and actually lasts through a whole (sweaty) work day! I do wish it had a pump instead of the wand but the wand it comes with is still a good applicator, however it does it get difficult to get product at the bottom of the bottle. My only big gripe is the plastic holding the lids pops off fairly easily but the lid itself still stays on and sealed so it isn't a huge deal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Probably worst foundation I've tried I think every youtuber has made a video about this foundation saying they love it. So of course I fell into the hype of. I was so excited to try it out. So first, it smells like paint. then when you go to blend it's like a paste and I swear it ate my concealer after blending it. But it didn't look too bad. UNTIL LIKE THREE HOURS LATER. My face started to flake on the dry areaa, it looked like my skin was peeling off. It made my pores look huge and it got so cakey. I do NOT recommend this at all. I was too scared to even take a picture in this because how bad my face looked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my go-to liquid foundation... I LOVE this product. It is so affordable for a HIGH quality product! [product:wet-n-wild-photo-focus-foundation] As I have dry/combination skin, it can be hard to find a foundation that is both moisturizing as well as locks in place. After a long day of running around at work, both inside and outside the facility, my foundation still remains. This is also the best color match I have found for my skin. I apply it using a wet beauty sponge and it does not absorb into my skin, it sets nicely on top. It is buildable as well! Slight scent but not detrimental. I need more of my friends to try this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really enjoy using this foundation, it's buildable coverage. It goes on my skin all smooth and doesn't cling onto any sort of texture that's on my skin. I do use a BH cosmetics primer with it. I set it with Cory Airspun setting powder in translucent. The foundation does break apart, only around the mouth but that's pretty normal for me unless I put an eyeshadow primer on it. I do think it sheers out a little but as you go on and about you're day. Pretty awesome drugstore product. Definitely going to repurchase it, only because it is a cheaper alternative for a more high-end brand. Give it a try and you might like it and if you don't, return it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3.5 out of 5 stars I'm combo/oily skin type and I'm in the shade golden beige. It has a smell like paint, It did not oxidize like crazy like other drugstore foundations, it does enhance texture, I don't have dry patches but it did cling on to one spot. It felt powdery too. I set it with the new powder and it looked much better. After the 4 hour mark, my nose looked a little dewy which surprised me because most drugstore foundations (even matte) make me look oilier. My nose area was a little dewy and the foundation rubbed off a little. But the rest of the face looked really good. I will keep using it till it finishes. I'm not sure if I will purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Gives me medium to full coverage. And stays all day on my oily skin! I’m 61 and love this foundation which mattifies the skin yet never looks “makeupy”. Like the spatula but wish it had a pump like Elf does at about the same price point. That my only criticism. If it keeps the price the same, then I’ll continue to use the paddle applicator provided. I prefer to use a beauty blender for all my liquid foundation and it’s seamless. Bisque Beige is my go to-just eyeballed it and went with it! Perfect match. I’m more of a medium girl summer or winter with blonde hair. Enjoy this very much with your concealer. Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but... I heard a lot if good things about this foundation, I have very fair skin and not many drugstore foundations make a light enough shade for me. So, I had to try it. I bought Porcelain and Nude Ivory because I didn't know what shade would suite me best. Long story short, Porcelain was the closest match. I like the way this foundation lays on my skin, it's smooth and matches. The only thing I really don't like is the smell when you apply it... It smells exactly like wet paint.. When you get done applying it and it sets down, you can't smell it anymore which is great. Overall, this foundation is a must have but that scent is something that needs some work!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure what went wrong... I got this with the hopes that it would be a great drugstore option for foundation based on all of the rave reviews I'd seen about it. I don't know if I just got a bad batch, or if it isn't for my skin type or what, but I am not a fan. First, it's very liquidy and I feel like my makeup sponge absorbs most of what I try to put on my face. I have to go over about 3 times to get close to full coverage. It also literally smells like paint. I don't understand the point of the little wand either. I am open to trying another one to see if it was just bad, but I don't have big hopes

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would purchase again, despite the negatives This is a great, budget friendly, medium-full coverage foundation. I use a sponge to apply it, and it blends really nicely with that method. Have not tried it with a brush so I cannot speak on how it might apply differently using a brush. The downsides: If you have dry/combo skin, it does have the tendency to stick to dry patches. This foundation does have a smell to it that’s very reminiscent of house paint. Packaging: I wish this had a pump. Just for more sanitary reasons than anything else. The applicator it comes with is easy to clean, but if you are concerned (like me) about bacteria this is something to be mindful of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This foundation is great but it needs SPF I love this foundation. It's super creamy and feels very light, not cakes at all. It looks lovely on me and it actually matches my ghostly, really pale skin color really well which is very hard to find (I use Porecelian by the way). Also, my skin does look really good in photos, as advertised. The only problem with it. There's no SPF in it. I wish it had SPF; then I would give it 5 stars. We need to protect our skin from harmful rays, why not use pretty foundation with SPF in it on our faces instead of runny, weird smelling sunscreen that always gets in our eyes? But other than that, this is one of best drugstore foundations ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Hype is Real Good foundations are hard to find, especially drug store ones. This foundation was really easy to blend, and it left a light coverage which I liked. Throughout the day I didn’t notice the foundation fade away. I went to the gym and did a small workout, and the foundation still managed to stay on my face. Towards my tenth period lunch, I did notice that the foundation wasn’t as good as it had been earlier, but it wasn’t too bad where it made me give the foundation a one-star review. The foundation reminded me of the “Fenty” foundation by Rihanna because it gave me the light coverage look, so I believe that the Wet and Wild Foundation is a doop for Fenty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t waste your bag I bought your foundation cus it was cheap and said no flashback. First shade Cream Beige. I tried it and I looked good. And then the moment of truth of the pic with no flashback came. When I took a picture with flash on with my back camera it screamed....MICHEAL JACKSON WHO?!! Yall when I tell you I looked pale I mean it. I looked like I belonged in a Twilight movie. I trusted wet n wild. But you guys failed me. The no flashback is fake everyone. I even bought another one but in a different shade, Desert Beige for $7. And again flashback. I looked whiter again with flash. All I gotta say this foundation is a no for me :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Like others I had high hopes for this foundation. I've been using this for about 3 weeks and it made me break out bad! It smells HORRIBLE. It doesn't blend very well and it doesn't cover very well either. It makes my pores VERY noticable as well as any bumps and lines I have. I have a mixture of oily and dry skin and it looks cakey all over. It's a thick consistency so I can feel it on my face all day. I don't recommend buying it, it's just plain bad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst foundation I've ever tried For reference: I have fair to light skin with warm undertones, normal to slightly dry, no acne or wrinkles. I was looking forward to trying this foundation due to all the hype but it was absolutely awful; it looked like a cracked clay mask, even with exfoliating, moisturizer, face oil, and a hydrating primer. I've tried it with and without primer, it just doesn't work for me. That doesn't mean the product is bad (many people love it), it just didn't mesh wth my skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am no makeup I am no makeup guru, so ease of use is of utmost importance to me. And the Photo Focus foundation works wonders! Personally, I do not use foundation for full face coverage -- I use it more like a concealer for under my eyes and for blemishes on my skin. I've used this foundation every single day for the past year and have absolutely no complaints. It smooths out easily on my skin, does not bunch up into wrinkles, and holds my makeup that I put on top of it well. It does not feel tacky at all either, which is a great relief in comparison to foundations I have used in the past. I intend on being a regular customer for the Photo Focus foundation!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I purchased this foundation after seeing YouTube videos raving about the product. I gave it a try, and it did not turn out well for me. It looked patchy and began to separate on my skin after only a few minutes. It also has a very overwhelming scent, similar to the smell of paint. Then next day after trying this, I broke out horribly. I then looked at the ingredients, and there are some ingredients in this product that should not go on anyone’s face whatsoever. If you have sensitive skin, stay away from this foundation. The only good thing I can say is that it did provide great coverage on certain areas of my skin. I will not be repurchasing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’m absolutely blown away by this product. I was super skeptical because I haven’t used a drugstore foundation in years, because always after a couple of hours my skin would get very oily and I’d have to blot due to the foundation. However this foundation, is amazing! The price is unbeatable. The coverage is more medium, but covers very well on my red, splotchy complexion. I would highly recommend, and you don’t have much to lose for only $6 a bottle! Love this more than almost any of the high end foundations I’ve used. In the picture on the left I had applied my makeup at 6:30am, the picture on the right is from 5:30pm. It did not get oily at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wet n wild never let's me down .. this foundation is very pretty and settles on the skin nicely. I use my beauty blender and it applys flawless. I want to say it's medium coverage very buildable in areas you want more coverage in. I got mine at my local rite aid for about $6.49. there isn't a big shade range I believe ... I'm light skin but with a nuetral- warm undertone so certain foundations I can get away with the lightest medium... but I purchased this in buff biege and I really wish there was a color in between. I do recommend this product to anyone that can make the shades work for them. It applys matte so this is perfect during the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All time favorite I have been using this foundation for around 2 years and it is absolutely my favorite!!! It is definitely a dupe if not better than the estee lauder double wear foundation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I currently use this product and it's definitely one of my too favorites. It is insanely affordable and has pretty decent shade variety for the brand. The color fits my skin tone pretty darn great! It doesn't dry down the best though and it's not the lightest feeling foundation, yet it does give me a light to medium coverage. It's buildable, decent coverage and works well enough for someone like me who wears makeup for a handful of hours if you use some setting/ finishing powder, but maybe not all day if you sweat too much. It lasts pretty good though and blends beautifully. This is one of the looks I used with it! Photo Focus Foundation Cream Beige

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Drug Store foundation I have tried. Okay Ladies. In my makeup room I have Estée Lauder double wear, YSL all hours, Urban Decay all nighter, Marc Jacobs Remarcable, and the Malani 2 in one foundation sitting on my desk. But every day I have been reaching for one foundation only. And it cost 5.99. If you are a fan of makeup forever HD but wish it had a bit more coverage. This is for you. Now I won’t lie. It straight up smells like house paint. That goes away pretty quickly. If you are a makeup junky like me. You should give this a try. You can thank me later. Lol.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this due to a YouTube beauty guru who raves about it. She's picky so it has to be good if it's up to her standards, right? NOPE. This absolutely did not work for me. I knew about the smell and could deal with that if the performance was good, but it is not. It settles in pores and lines even with a good primer, it's streaky and low coverage. The only good thing I can say is every time I tried it, after realizing that no matter what primer or sponge or brush was used, it is in fact terrible; other foundations would layer on top of it with no issues. A lot of people love this so with the low price point give it a try, but it's a pass from me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I really like the color of this foundation, I believe I bought the lightest shade (at least the lightest shade at my local Wal-Mart) which was "Porcelain", and it's almost a perfect match for my fair/light yellow skin tone. I have dry skin and really enjoy the look of more natural finish foundations which I believe this has, but it is just so tacky after you put it on. I definitely have to set it with powder which is not something I enjoy doing as it feels very heavy with the powder and can make my dry skin look very cakey and heavy. If you have combination/oily skin this foundation could be nice but I hate how tacky and sticky it is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product for the price, the smell is not great,it applies and blends beautifully has amazing coverage. I would prefer it more with no smell. The range off tones is also poor but I was able to find a decent match. I would buy again and use in a pinch still not my favorite but the product does what it says and its not heavy considering the coverage can certainly be full when build up. It does not last as long as I like but it will give you a good 7-8 hours with the right primer and setting spray. It works well with other products and does not change tones after drying. I love that it looks smooth and blurring and no cake face.
